OUR PROGRAM
AT A GLANCE
Our veteran staff brings clinical expertise and authentic understanding through lived experience, creating real connections.
But the true catalyst for lasting change is the courage and determination our residents have for reclaiming their futures.
Principles
& Clinical
Framework
Thorough Assessment & Personalized Treatment
We begin by getting to know each person through comprehensive mental health evaluations: cognitive testing, behavioral screenings, and honest conversations about what’s really going on. This careful assessment helps us understand not just the challenges, but the person behind them, which becomes the foundation for creating treatment plans that actually make sense for their life and legal situation.
Integrated Clinical Programming
Our team works together like a well-oiled machine (most days). Licensed clinicians, psychiatric professionals, and support staff coordinate care that addresses both legal readiness and mental health needs. We blend cognitive/behavioral work, educational sessions, and medication management into programming that builds real skills and understanding, not just checkbox completion.
Progress Tracking & Professional Communication
We keep close tabs on how things are going through regular assessments, because progress isn’t always linear and we need to know when to adjust course. Clear, consistent communication with courts, attorneys, and healthcare providers means everyone stays in the loop about what’s working, what isn’t, and realistic timelines for moving forward.

MIKE PETERSON
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Mike is Monarch Competency’s
Mike is Monarch Competency’s co-founder and and one of those rare, enigmatic people who moves through life with Energizer Bunny determination. It's inspiring to watch, though the power source remains a mystery. As a father with eight years in behavioral health and recovery since 2015, Mike believes real compassion includes accountability and that change comes from within. For anyone ready to do the work, he’s first to help, last to leave; showing up with both heart and backbone.

Much like a gyroscope, Cali Peterson maintains balance in motion, juggling her role as Executive Director, loving wife, mom of two energetic boys, and lending her time wherever possible because she hasn’t discovered the word “no” yet. Nine years in addiction treatment plus her own recovery story means she gets it. You’ll find her quietly working behind the scenes with her sidekick Chewy, answering emails at midnight or helping with something that technically isn’t her job but she does anyway. She’s one of those people who makes recovery look possible by simply being herself.
